Moved cooler on cpu while installing it, could this affect the cpu performance?

I built my pc couple months ago, But i moved the cooler little bit when it was already on the processor. Could the cpu overheat now? I have played witcher 3 for 40 hours but i noticed that i have about 10 fps less than other people with the same build on youtube, So could it be because of my cpu?

Moving the cooler is fine so long as two things are met.
So long as the paste was still fresh and not dry, and so long as the cooler wasnt removed, you are entirely fine.

I suspect your FPS difference lies with youtube, and not your system. Specs/fps/benchmarks on youtube are usually flat out wrong.

If you noted what the temps of the cpu when you first built the system, and playing a game ect on it.
Just find a program on the internet that monitors your cpu temps.
If it seems to be running hotter than it was before, then you may of disturbed the thermal paste layer between the cpu cooler and the cpu heat spreading plate of the cpu.

So you may have to take it apart and clean off the paste, then apply some more thermal paste to get the temps back to where they were. If you cpu is getting too hot it will throttle it`s core speed down in an effort to reduce it`s heat output.
That may be the reason for you getting 10 fps less in a game.

So it may need a clean of and new application of thermal paste ok.

I downloaded a program called HWiNFO but i couldnt figure out how to display temperatures on screen so i left it running on backround and played witcher 3 for around a hour. When i opened it again it showed these temperatures:
Current - 48 Minimum - 43 Maximum - 55 Average - 49
So the temperatures are normal but why do I still have less fps than other people?

It's not because of the CPU cooler being moved, theres ALOT of other things that could be affect you fps. Like installed items, or having other things open could effect you FPS also it could be the settings your running on. or even the moniter your using will effect the fps you getting. The cpu cooling will NOT affect your FPS in games. But can cause problems of overheating. But it seems that its fine from you last post. So don't worry. ^_^
