i7 4790k Stock Cooler Safe?

Hello i just purchased an i7 4790k cpu.
I do not Plan on Overclocking it but i was wondering if the stock cooler is good enough to keep the cpu safe?

All stock coolers are safe with for the cpus they ship with at stock speeds. If you oc then you may need something stronger, bit since you wont oc then its perfectly fine.

If you do not OC, you should have chosen either i7 4790 or E3-1231V3.
i7 4790k is more expensive due to it's OCability.

But, since you already have it. Yes, if you do not OC the stock fan will do.

The stock fan is not good enough if you do heavy rendering and long 100% load seasons, the CPU would be around 85°C after 10 minutes of 100% load.

@xStampede: No...that is a bit exagerating
Intel always included a fan which is sufficient if you use it like Intel's defined a.k.a. stock speed.

You have still benefits if you buy an after market fan.
It should be less loud and cooler.
Yup, even on stock speed the i7 4790k will be cooler on aftermarket cooler than on stock fan.
The cooler your system is the longer it will survive.
But still, on stock speed, an after market fan is not a must, only recommended.

But either one the stock cooler is safe with base speeds.

The extra 400Ghz alone does not justify the price difference, the OC-ability is more the deciding factor.

I just bought a 4790K CPU, and wanted to use it for some time with the stock CPU cooler.
On blender renders (8 cores @ 100%) the CPU would reach 100°C and throttle down. to 4.0 or 3.8 GHz (instead of 4.4).

So NO, i would not reccomend you using the stock cooler.

I just bought a CoolerMaster T4, and I'll try with it tonight. I don't really know if it will be enough.

It's true yes, but that's no problem for gaming, most games won't put enough load on the cpu to be a problem.

You can game fine on the stock cooler if you have no other choice.

Very few games can really put an i7 4790k to 100% load.
If you render, it is another story.

As said already, aftermarket fan is not a must but recommended.
You see still benefits if you buy an after market fan.
Coolers like CM Hyper 212 and T4 are not expensive.

I have stock cooling on mine, cpu goes to 100 degrees C when playing gta 5 without overclocking.
Does not work at all for me, will need to buy a new cooler before summer.

That is just incorrectly fitted. It shouldn't be getting that hot in games, even with the stock cooler.

Not sure what you mean by that.
CPU fan starts spinning like crazy, and msi afterburner overlay thing tells me my cpu is around 100C hot.

Also, might add that it goes to those temperatures with just 30 - 40% load.

If you are hitting 100c then its not fitted correctly. Remove it and remount it checking all the push pins are locked in correctly - its not that uncommon for people not to fit the intel stock coolers correctly.

I did not even install it, I paid the people where I bought the parts to do that for me.
(and I have no idea how to do it...)

Is there any way except for the high temps that I can confirm it's incorrectly fitted?

I can confirm people saying the stock cooler isnt good enough
I have a 4790k @ stock speed with stock HS & fan and it goes straight up to 90C+ when I start up prime95, Intel have fooked up with this cooler, it isnt good enough!!!

Reapplied new thermal paste, its definitely seated properly etc etc
