It's not a virus per se. A virus usually refers to malware which attempts to spread itself from computer to computer. What you've got is adware - malware which spreads only from a specific site (usually via ads) to a computer. Not from computer to computer.
It's a subtle but important difference. Most antivirus programs concentrate on stopping viruses, and don't care about adware. The best program for removing adware is Malwarebytes.
