I just did a budget build for a family member and wound up getting Windows 7 home 32bit. I went with an AMD dual core Trinity chip that has integrated graphics (not bad at all). I know that the 32bit windows version will only recognize 4 gigs of Ram but can you add ram, lets say 2 gigs, dedicate it for graphics on chip and still have the other 4 gigs being used with the OS, effectively using 6 gigs total?

Solution
4GB total addressable memory. That means, VRAM, System RAM, and I/O and a whole bunch of other things. That is why 3GB is the real world maximum for 32bit OS.

I've added memory to Laptops that had 3GB and ended up with 2.83GB, adding in up to 4GB and the system reserved more memory for the onboard GPU.

Far as I know, 32-bit cannot use more than 4GB of ram, the cpu will not allow it as well (CPU can only handle 32-bit as well)

Upgrade to 64-bit systems if you are looking to utilize more than 4GB of ram total

Question... The Windows 7 Home you picked up.. did it come with both the 64 and 32 bit versions? When I bought a the OEM version of Win7 a few years ago it came with both versions (two dvds). I was just wondering if you could just install the other version.
