does it worth to upgarde my lga 775 system ?

hey guyz
i have this system

cpu: Q6600 @3.4
RAM: xtreem dark 1066 2*2 gb
psu: corsair 850w
case: advance middle tower supports L ATX and vga 290 mm length
mb: asus p5q-e
vga: xfx 6950 2gb unlocked
monitor: lg 2261vp @1080p
my budget is about 700$. and i want to play game on 1080 resolution.just need to buy RAM CPU MB and vga if it's necessary.
does it worth to upgrade ? if yes what's your recommendation system?

update 1: i don't mean that i want to buy another LGA 775 cpu or another 775 MB! i mean changing everything!

To be honest, it would be a shame to spend that kind of money on that system. Yes, a faster card and (if you can find one) a faster CPU would make a big difference. But if you like everything else about the rig, go for a new board, processor, memory, and gfx card.

I meant staying in that platform and upgrading it would not be worth it. You need a new platform. Intel LGA 1150 or AMD AM3+. That's why I listed one such combo. Of course, you would need to do a clean install of the OS and all your apps when you do that.
