So I have recently tried to upgrade from Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit. After installation, I can't seem to figure out how to connect to the internet. I'm trying to do so via ethernet. I've searched through this forum a little to try and find a solution, but none seem to work for me.

When I go to the Device Manager, the following have yellow question marks next to them:
Ethernet Controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
USB Controller
Unknown Device

My motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V

It also says my display is a Generic PnP Monitor?

Any help is appreciated!

Solution
Yes, indeed!

Install the Chipset, Ethernet and Audio drivers from the disc provided. Graphics drivers should also be installed respectively from the disc provided by the Graphics Card.

However, more modern versions are available online, as tschuyler said. The ones on the disc will do just fine, though!

Good Luck!
Axel.

Have you installed the Chipset and Ethernet drivers? This should resolve the issue.

And, Generic PnP is just how it behaves. Mine does that too.

The PCI Simple Communications Controller is a strange thing though. I've got that very issue myself. Working on resolving it at the moment. Though, it's nothing very important.

This just sounds like an unfinished installation. Just get some updated drivers going, and you should be fine.

Good Luck!
Axel.

Thanks for the response!

I'm really new to these kind of things, but I'm assuming this means the disk that came with the motherboard? I will try and get back to you.

Solution
Get the latest driver (Version 20.0 - March 17, 2015) for the motherboard's Intel 82579 Gigabit LAN controller here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18713/Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-7-

The one on ASUS' website is Version 17.3 posted on September 21, 2012.

I am now connected to the internet so thank you! But, I can't seem to find the disk provided by the graphics card. It's a GTX 580. Does NVIDIA have downloadable drivers on their website that will work in place of the missing disk?
