i chose an ips panel so it has a slightly lower response time which is worse for gaming but much better colours but if you prefer you could get a tn monitor instead

Forgot about overclocking and use that money on a better 144hz monitor. If you want to keep your 60hz monitor, go with a GTZ 960 as the 970 would be overkill.

in that case, go for this build. If you want an SSD. This case is much better and more spacious.

+1 this build.
I use a Cryorig H7 on my 4690k and at 4.6ghz OC I get mid 60c temps while gaming. I also have that same GPU and monitor and I have no complaints about them.

Couple things to consider...

You mention you want SLI, but you picked a basic monitor to where you wont see any benefit when adding a 2nd GTX-970. Heck, a single 970 will push a 1080p 60hz monitor to it's limits. Also, for 970-SLI, you would need at least a 750W PSU and I would get a good one, but the options listed mean you have to upgrade later. So, do you want the hardware that will support a 2nd 970 later(more expensive), or the hardware that will just run good on a single 970(less expensive)?

How high of an OC are you looking for? The higher end coolers are only needed if you are pushing the OC on that CPU to its limits. If you don't plan on a serious OC, something 4.4Ghz or lower, a Hyper-212 EVO with a 2nd fan on it would be fine, as long as you get a good airflow case like the Corsair 300R.

I'm not trying to push it to it's limit just far enough to boost performance without stressing the cpu too much. I am going to go with the 300r case, and I would like the hardware to support slI later. I also plan on making sure 110% that my components will not overheat, if we can manage to keep cost lower than 1350 without the os, that would be perfect! As for the hardware for the future I think I wouldn't mind getting a better power supply and fan for now, than upgrade the monitor and grab an extra video card later when I'm ready for sli, how does that sound? Maybe a better monitor instead too

How would the dell monitor bsod mentioned above be? He included it in his sli build, and it seems if I want to future proof this pc i have to extend my budget and i am willing to do so to a certain extent, honestly im thinking about just going with bsod's first sli build if we get to that price point.

I tweaked my SLI build a bit.

This is an overkill for 1080p 60Hz, I haven't selected a monitor.

But this will work pretty well with 1080p 144Hz

Im following that second build closely and i like that one even more but what is putting me off is the non oc processor and two video cards, but i do like that it shows me what hardware i would need for sli, so im following it precisely except i have my heart set on the intel 4690k and one video card, i plan on getting a second one games absolutely demand it. Im also not a fan of the hyper evo 212, i like the corsair h60 better, it seems safer? please correct me if im wrong. I really appreciate everyone's help! this is a link to my current build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qM2srH

Air coolers are definitely safer than water coolers. Water coolers are just bragging rights and for extreme overclocking for which something like the Kraken X61 is more suited.

I will give you a overclockable build, single GTX 970. You can add a second card later. Is this acceptable?
