Hi guys!

I'm planning on buying a new graphics card (the gtx 970 or the 980ti) but first i want to do some overcloking on my current CPU, it is a Phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz and I want to get it to 4.0 or 4.2 ghz if it is possible, two days from now I will be buying either the CM hyper 212 EVO or the Corsair H60 (which is better?).

I want to know if my motherboard will support that OC. The model is a Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H (Linus actually reviewed it, just noticed today). Also should I upgrade the BIOS?

So TL;DR

1. My motherboard supports OC the 4.0 or 4.2ghz? (Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H)
2. Should I upgrade BIOS?
3. Hyper 212 evo vs H60?

Thanks!! :D

PS. Im afraid that the 212 EVO won't fit on the MOBO because of the NB heatsink...

Yes you can but the question is should you? I always question motherboards that do not have a heat sink on the VRM. They also warn you in their page that if you are going to do this make sure you have sufficient cooling and that it will void the warranty...

Depending on your budget I would recommend...

I am sure there are others out there that will also give you some better motherboards.

As for BIOS you should always get the latest tested BIOS because they will have fixed bugs and hardware compatibility issues.

As for the coolers, I like liquid cooled but I believe the 212 EVO will actually out perform the H60. I guess the main question is how much room you have and will the 212 EVO fit with your RAM?
