Hello,

I just noticed today that my CPU seems to be running really hot which sucks since I have had this cpu for a long time now and never noticed. I have the stock HSF and I do not OC is this normal for this CPU? It's at 50% load @ 98c :(

I would try making sure the stock hsf is properly seated. Sometimes the push pins don't lock all the way, they're a real pain. Better yet you may just want to pick up a budget aftermarket cooler like a cryorig h7. The stock hsf are rarely worth installing from the get go. Maybe try downloading realtemp and see if it reports the same thing. If those are your actual temps and not being misreported, they're really high. Even the stock hsf when properly installed should cool better than that.

that is pretty hot, you need to lower that temp a bit - I like to keep it under 80C
I notice you don't seem to have any case fans, but MB temp looks actually low
Also, you are oc'ing by 200MHz (4.2GHz vs stock 4.0GHz)
Did you never check temp before? So it could have been running hot from day 1?

Thanks for your help guys, I uninstalled my old cooler and it did seem a little off one of the mounting pins was actually cracked. So I purchased a Seidon 120V closed loop water kit and installed it, but I am getting the same exact temps! I don't understand how that can even be true. It locks down with metal screws. Do you think the thermal paste could be bad? I am using arctic silver 5.

That was the problem lol the thermal paste was crap! I took it off again and it felt like scraping and old burnt peperoni off the cooler which I just installed hours ago. I put the thermal compound that came with the new cooler and its running at half the temp.

I watched this video on youtube and the guy explains that you should use the stuff that comes with the cooler not an after-market version. Good watch for anyone on the same boat. I am sure I didnt even need a new cooler to begin with lol. Oh well maybe I can OC a little now.

that is a VERY bad way to install the paste:
1) Guaranteed to leave air bubbles in when you lift off the cooler - in the video, you could actually SEE the voids that will be filled with air when you re-install the cooler!!!!!
2) Stupid Statement # 1 ".. you don't actually want metal to metal contact"

Sorry since this way was posted by Asus and he kind of explained that they have tested various methods and that was their best I thought it was good. I can't complain since it's running about 200% cooler now, but mostly I think it's due to the thermal compound, but it's ok for me its around 60 c at full load before it was 100c @ half load.

did you actually lift it up to see the paste, then just place it down again? That HAS to leave air bubbles in paste, the basic application method is ok, not the best but ok, it is the lifting up and putting back down that is a problem
