Is it possible to do this? Dual R9 295x2's in a MSI z97-GD65? If not, would it be worth running a R9 295x2 + R9 290x for better fps at 4k?

I wouldn't do it, honestly i think it's a waste of money. Games hardly support even 2x crossfire not 4x...
Anyway i advice you to sell your 295x2 and look forward to PC Gaming Show 06 15, where the new flagship cards with HBM will release form AMD. IF you want AMD then go that route and get 2x of the new flagship cards.
other route is 2x 980ti, which i think is the best by the way.

If you want to stick with the 295x2s anyway its possible on that mb , but you'll need a very strong and high quality power supply, since 1 295x2 uses 500watt... so 2 uses 1kw...

I have a 295x2 thats nearly new that I'll sell to you. I'm currently running that card along with a /290x in xfire. It was totally unintended as I had the 290x first and saw the great deal on the 295x2 afterwards.

I'm not happy that there's no hdmi 2.0 port and I'm forced to use the 30hz hdmi port for now.a If I used a real monitor instead of a 4k tv this wouldnt be an issue.

If I had researched this prior to I wouldnt have made this mistake. I think I will post my cards on ebay tomorrow and see what happens.
