So like the title says im looking to upgrade my cpu from a i-5 2400 to a i7-4790K, is it worth or should i wait for the skylake CPUs to release?

As a cooler I got at the moment a Cooler Master Seidon 120V Plus, but it is a little bit too noisy, per example in clutch situations on CS:GO the ingame sound almost has to make my ears bleed so that i can hear the footsteps form the enemies. I was thinking on getting a 280mm AIO cooler, i got a Phantom 530 case so it would perfectly fit on the top side of the case. For that I dont know if i should get a Kraken X61 or a Corsair H110i GT. I want a AIO that is quiet and has a nice performance

Air coolers tend to be much quieter than liquid coolers. Select from http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2478892/alternatives-hyper-212-evo-budget-cooling.html in so as not to waste money on a bang/buck Loser.
I doubt the upgrade would be worthwhile, unless there are specific, CPU-bound programs you run. What are your uses for this PC? If mostly games, you're not likely to see a difference big enough to be worth the price. What graphics card do you have?

For quiet AIOs, a 240+ mm RAD is the way to go IMO.

you can crank fan speeds way down, and still maintain good temps with either a 2 or 4 fan configuration.

As far as the CPU, there isn't much out in the way of performance for the new skylake chip, other than speculation.

Also, i am not sure if the new chipset will get a new socket or not!
(I just realized how uninformed i am on intel's new chip...)

LGA1151 and Z170 is the chipset. All new and it looks like DDR4 for the ones I have seen so far.

Supposedly the CPUs can also run DDR3L like the broadwells. So I imagine there will be some boards with two sets of slots like during the switch from DDR2 to DDR3.

I know that air coolers are quieter than liquid coolers, but I just dont like the look of the aircoolers inside the case. They are just huge.

Are you talking about the CPU upgrade? Is it not worth? Yes for now its mostly for gaming, but this pc will also be my workstation.

I have a Gigabyte 970GTX G1

I was thinking on getting a 280mm AIO because i already got 2 140mm Corsair AF Quiet series fans so i could install 4 fans on the radiator. But i would like one AIO that the pump is quiet and that has a nice performance.

Well even if I really get the i7-4790k Ill need to get a 1150 socket motherboard.

So that basically means that if I go for a Skylake CPU Ill probably need to buy DDR4 RAM right?

I am interested on overclocking the i7-4790K
