In terms of power, the 4460 is almost identical to the 4690k. The main exception between the two is the overclocking, which can, if done properly, bring more power to the table. The 4460 is still a fantastic cpu.
Yeah you are good, wondering if you will like it in 3-4 years is a very subjective and hard to answer question. But I will say that you should still have a good amount of gpu/and cpu muscle as long as you stay <=1080p imho, again very subjective and hard to quantify so ill give it a soft yes.
