Got a new CPU, its the proper socket an everything and i updated my bios so everything should be fine, but will i need to reinstall windows 8 for a new cpu? I bought a pre built pc it didnt come with a windows 8 disc or anything so if i did i would need to back up my hardrive... another question.. I turned my comp off and the power button was blinking red.. why is this? I havent even replaced the cpu yet. The comp still turned on and works fine though/

Solution
New CPU does not require a Windows reinstall. If the motherboard supports, simply install the new CPU, making sure to install the heatsink correctly as well, and boot up.
