Hi all,

I am planning on picking up a new PC from PC Specialist (I have built machines in the past but I am being lazy this time)...I have spec'd out a couple builds one based on X99 and one based on z97.

This system is 100% for gaming, and pretty much nothing else. Keeping in mind I probably will not over clock, at least not until I feel I really need to (in a few years maybe), and I almost certainly wont SLI, is the extra £300 worth it for the x99?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for taking the time to respond guys.

So taking on board what you have said the z97 seems like the way to go. I didn't appreciate the Corsair CS was a budget range though - so thanks for pointing that out. As mentioned before I don't want the hassle of building it myself so don't really want to be switching out the PSU.

With that in mind I was thinking of upgrading the PSU to the 850W RM (+£30), as corsair seem to highlight that as a good model for heavy gaming. But then I thought might as well go with the 1000W RM (+£60) on the basis that I then have the option to add another 980ti in a couple years if I feel that's necessary. Does this make sense?

If so my only other question was whether the 4790k could potentially bottleneck those 2 980 ti's in SLI?

Thanks for the answers guys, I think I will go with the z97, a single 980ti and the 850W RM. Based on what I have read on Toms Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html) this is a tier 2 PSU that seems like a safe choice. Realistically when I am looking at adding another 980ti there are going to be better options on the market anyway...

Appreciate your thoughts, I am aware I am paying a premium to have it built for me. But that said I just spec'd out the exact same system on Scan and it came to £1714.36 so its only around £100 extra, which seems fair enough to me (given that they will also stress test it/burn it in and I don't have to worry about RMAs etc.)
