Is there a way to have a single power supply be used for two motherboards?
I have two boards that I run ubuntu server on, basic web server and I have two power supply,
thinking that I might be using more power having two PSU, for two Motherboards, i want to see if it would be best to have one 800w PSU to supply power to both.

thanks.

Mega motherboard consumers like Google and Amazon use large DC power supplies for many nodes to improve efficiency. But they have the leverage to get tailored motherboards. For consumer grade equipment, I believe that sizing your power supply correctly and getting high efficiency power supplies is probably more practical. It would also remove a single point of failure between the two nodes. A power supply failure doesn't take out everything.

Maintaining efficiency at low loads is difficult. That is why I recommended sizing the power supplies appropriately so that the load on them is in the most efficient band.

I totally agree; the selected PSUs should have maximum efficiency from the minimum to the maximum system's load. It isn't difficult to achieve with Gold or Platinum PSUs.
