Hi there, I'm stuck in choosing which keyboard to buy, this will be my first mechanical keyboard ( currently using a membrane razer anansi ) and Id like your help in choosing, iv got down to two keyboards, either the CM storm mech or the razer blackwidow chroma, as far as I can tell the razer uses razers own switches which are like fake cherry blues, whereas the mech uses cherry blues or browns, I like the aesthetic of the mech but the backlit keys are only in white, whereas the razer you can customise all keys to any colour, I already own a razer Tartarus and naga epic chroma, so the blackwidow would fit in well and I wouldn't need any new software, but the mech is considerably cheaper, so if I bought the mech I would be able to buy my brother a razer naga, it's a really difficult decision please help :)

Btw my rig is black and red which is the only thing putting me off the mech.

Many thanks

ehhh black widow... CM Storm Mech is better.
Get a Ducky Shine 4 or a Corsair K70 RGB. They both use Cherry MX switches. The Ducky one uses standard keycaps, so you'll be able to swap those out if that's your style. It has a Blue/Red led config, so any color in between is reachable, and Ducky is known for having some of the best backlighting on keyboards. The Corsair K70 you can get in RGB, so it has the green element if you want that. It also has media keys. But the build quality is nowhere near a Ducky or something higher end. Plus it doesn't use standard keycaps, so you can't just pick up Cherry MX keycaps and use those.

The mechanical keyboard market is pretty wide

How much do you want to spend on a keyboard? If you're going for one that has RGB lighting I just ordered a Corsair K70 and I would recommend that over a Razer any day of the week. Logitech also makes an RGB keyboard that's really cool but it's well over the $200 mark.

Iv got £140 top end and 90 minimum, as I'm getting my money from my camera I'm selling, yeah iv had a quick look on overclockers.co.uk and noticed the k70 and k95, I'm not too sure tho, my knowledge of keyboards isn't a lot, I'm wondering if you or anyone else could also tell me which switches are best? I know there's brown blues reds and blacks I think and it's something to do with noise and pressure applied, it's going to be mostly for gaming.

Thanks so far guys

The keyboard I have now is a brown Cherry (Gigabyte GK-Osmium) and it's pretty nice but some of the keys can get ultra sensitive during light typing or heavy gaming. The K70 that I just ordered is a red Cherry so it will be interesting to see how the two compare.

Thanks, I think I might just get a corsair k95 rgb instead, they have the extra macros I need that the k70 hasent got and I can pick one up from overclockers for £145 just over my budget, I'll wait for a few more answers from some more people to appear on here first before I go and buy tho :)
