I am new to PC gaming and I was looking into building my own. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PmthLk I was just wondering if this would be a good first time build. One of the main things I was concerned about was overheating. I am not sure if this case will be able to keep the components cool or not. Also, if you have any other suggestions that might make this build better please let me know.
I would also like to keep the cost under 1000$ because I also need to buy a monitor.

Drop the CPU cooler. You can't overclock, so you don't need it. Get a better PSU. Corsair's CX series is OK for low budget builds, but not good for gaming builds. It uses cheap capacitors, so its lifespan will be shorter if you subject it to higher wattages, which you will do when you build this.
Other than that, your build looks good.

I'd either swap to the 4690k or drop the aftermarket cooler and Z97 mobo. Not much point in having the Evo 212 and Z97 if you're not overclocking. I'd also switch that PSU to a different brand.
