Hello

Around half year ago my PC has begun crashing/freezing... Symptoms was following: Pc just randomly begin to crash, doesnt matter while playing games or watching videos, or just beign on desktop...
Sometimes screen just went black and monitor shows out of sync, sometimes it goes just black and sometimes white. If sound is playing at time of crash it begin to tear terribly... But still running... There is no other way to solve this but by restart...

Back then i tried everything, memtests, format/reinstal, diferent drivers, cleaning pc, diferent Windows versions, checking temps etc... i was desperate.

Then i went to bios and set "cool and quiet" feature to disabled, and everything was fine, it works, at least for half year. Now it is back, i didnt change anything and it is there just like that...

Well, im ready to buy new components, but i just need help to identify which compotent i should focus first for replacement, because i cant afford whole new setup right away...

So if anyone can help me i will be more than glad :) Thanks and sorry for my english

PC setup
CPU: Phenom X2 965 3.4 ghz (gelid tranquilo cooler)
GPU: Radeon 6870 Saphire
RAM: 2 x 4 gb corsair vengeance 1333
HDD: Seagate ST1000 (hybrid)
PSU: Corsair 500w
Windows 7

Solution
Since cool and quiet relies on power states and changing them.
It would suggest what is at fault is your PSU in some way.
Psu`s in general, don`t just give out without notice.
Instead as they are used and put under load the components begin to degrade in there efficiency to provide the right amount of power required from them for the system you have crashing of the system slowly becomes more frequent. and then starts to happen when very little load is put on it example just sat in windows desktop or browsing the internet through your selected web browser.

You should try another power supply if you have a spare, or borrow one from a good friend that he and you know is in good working condition.
Test the system, putting load on it Ie...

Test the system, putting load on it Ie playing a game so your graphics cards power consumption goes up.
If stays stable then you know the PSU needs looking at, maybe a clean out because it is getting too hot.
Or it`s simply you had the best years of life, out of it and it`s beginning to degrade and fail on smooth constant power distribution. Do this before anything else if you can to verify it is the cause ok.
You have to remember the PSU is one of the main components of any PC.
And is the route bit of hardware to check first since the rest of your system relies on it.

Thanks for answer, well all my friends have laptops so borrowing PSU isnt a option and i dont believe they have standart PSU somewhere... So what 500w-550w PSU brand/type you can recommend for 65 EUR (70 USD)? :) I eventualy will build a new PC so new PSU will be must.
