Here is what happened. I was plugging an HDMI cable from my TV to my PC. I was reaching from underneath the table to shove the cord up to the computer, when the cable hit the back of the computer around the PSU. Sparks shot out and the HDMI was charred. I stupidly decided that they cable was still usable and put it into my GPU. Immediately my computer display shut off, and my gpu fan started going at 100%. I unplugged the HDMI and turned the computer off. When I turned it back on, the fan started going at 100% and my motherboard emitted a beep after a few seconds. I know for a fact that they gpu is dead, but I am wondering if anything else in the computer will of been damaged. Do you guys think that anything else was damaged. As for the tv, the tv main-board was blown and we had to buy a new one. The surge also went through the tv and killed my Roku and cable box. So anyways does anyone know if my computer is still damaged. Anyone have experience with this?

You could have been lucky and the damaged stopped at the GPU.

You could be really unlucky and it took out the motherboard and everything else attached to it.

There's no way of knowing until you replace the GPU and see what happens. At the very least I'd be wary of the mobo and the PSU.

Okay, yea I ordered an 8 dollar gpu to test the parts with.

My only problem is that the power surge went from my pc to the tv. It hadn't gone into the pc at all. I think that there was a power jump from the PSU to the HDMI, and then to the tv. So naturally when I connected the ruined hdmi into the gpu, it ruined the gpu. I dont see how any power was then pushed out of the gpu and into the other parts of the system.
