Ok so the other day i upgraded from an i5 3450 to an i7 2700k due to needing something with a bit more grunt for rendering, however i am also a gamer and i seem to be getting worse performance in game by about 10-15FPS now i wasnt expecting huge gains if any but didnt think i would get worse performance

Any thought ?

Many thanks

yeah i tried 4.5ghz but got a bit to toasty in prime95 for my liking (air cooling :( ) no didnt realise a clean install was something to do if you get a new processor, might see if i can dig out my win7 cd and do a fresh install

@rudi95

More than likely you have hyper threading enabled?

Do a test comparison with hyper threading enabled and disabled as hyper threading actually hurts performance in some games and applications I finally just disabled mine as it hurt performance of the things I ran most.
