Hi. Yesterday I installed Windows 8.1 from a clean ISO provided by Microsoft, once I got everything up and running I noticed that my audio quality was awful, I have tried the stock Microsoft provided audio drivers and everything was really quiet. I also tried the motherboard drivers for my on-board audio which is Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC on the P8Z68-V-PRO motherboard manufactured by ASUS and the audio quality was terrible, massive distortion if I turned the volume up. It was fine while using Windows 7? Is there anything I can do?

I tried both the Realtek Driver from the Asus website and the latest driver from this website; http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
I also flashed the latest BIOS available for my motherboard, it didn't fix the issues.

Specs that are relevant;
OS: Win 8.1 Pro x64
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V-PRO
Processor: Intel 2600K

Drivers that I have tried;
The audio driver from this site: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68V_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/
and the latest one from the Realtek link provided earlier.
Thank you!

Solution
try "Driver Booster 2.3.1.1" may have something but personally sounds like you have messed about with it quite a bit probably worth removing all devices in device manager sound video and game controllers reboot and just install the Realtek drivers nothing else if it doesent work then you probably need to get a sound card hope it works
