My GPU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NVODXR4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

My PSU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UVN20AO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

The GTX 970 is a 6-pin GPU but there's no 6-pin PCIe port on the PSU! I already ordered it and have it next to me right now, if GPU isn't compatible I'm going to be pissed because I wasted $80. It could go in one of the SATA ports because they're 6-pins but SATA doesn't work with GPUs!

*please note this is my first PC i'm building so if i misunderstood something, let me know.*

it's not the cords, it's the ports on the PSU. there's 2x 6 pins on the GPU. Where does the other end of the cord go into on the PSU? the MB port? the VGA1/VGA2 port?

what is the MD port used for?

thats MB not MD --motherboard--one for 24 pin and one for 8 pin

^ whs - the smaller one is for the 4 or 8 pin cables for motherboard - according to that picture there are 2 sets of these - only one of these is required & only one of them will fit your board - they are theccsbles 2 & 3rd from bottom right marked CPU.

theres 24-pin and 10-pin ports labeled MB. I don't see the 8-pin one. There's a 8-pin connector if that's what you're talking about

if its the same as my corsair psu

the one that says cpu-8 pin on psu end will be 8 pin on the other end--that goes to the 8 pin on mother board

the ones that say MB are 10 pin and 18 pin on the psu end and should join together to make a 24 pin on the motherboard end for main power to

motherboard

does that make it clearer?

one more question, which way should i mount the PSU? i have a Corsair 200r, there's a dust filter on the bottom where the PSU would be located. should the fan facing upwards towards the GPU or downwards facing the vent/filter?

i would face it down to draw cooler air into the psu

assuming its not sitting on a carpet with a deep pile
