DSL PPPoE connects, but DNS does not respond. Cannot browse, but can ping outside IPs.

First off, let's be clear, it is for sure a problem on my end and on this particular machine. I can connect and browse fine through direct PPPoE from other two computers and everything also works fine when I plug modem into a router (including the troubled computer, it gets internet when run through a router). So, ISP problems are ruled out and modem problems too I think, since it works with other machines. I even called their tech support with troubled machine connected, they said everything ran fine and were not able to give any further assistance. Can't blame them.

Problem:
Cannot browse the internet. "DNS server not responding" error after connecting through PPPoE. Login and password are correct. Can ping outside IPs including DNS servers given by ISP and Google's 8.8.8.8 and Yahoo's 67.195.160.76 and I imagine, any other outside IP address. Sometimes there isn't even a yellow warning icon in tray, computer thinks everything is connected and works fine.

Useful bullets:
Network adapter is on-motherboard, Killer e2200. Fully functional, gets internet and browsing when run through a router.
OS is Windows 7 64bit, fairly fresh install (a bit less than three weeks)
The IP is dynamic, changes with every connection
Both PPPoE and Local Area Network have their DNS and IP set to acquire automatically
Firewall is disabled
No other network connections. Just your usual Local Area Network and PPPoE
No additional antivirus software installed
Tried flushing DNS, to no avail
Tried putting DNS servers given by ISP in adapter settings
Tried downloading the network card drivers and installing them
Tried enabling and disabling IPv6 of both Local Area Network and PPPoE
I can ping outside IPs like Yahoo and Google and even the DNS servers given by ISP.

ipconfig when connected through PPPoE:

Thinking of taking my old hard drive, installing windows on it and trying out if damn thing works on a completely fresh install.

Hope we can solve this.

Hi

How long is network cable?
Sometimes long runs near electrical devices or mains cables pick up interfearance
Causing problems

Try Using a new cable or a known good cable

You say you do not have any av software which is not a good idea

Is this problem only found in internet Explorer or does it also occur with other browsers such as Firefox?

Another way of testing without installing windows again
Download kaspersky rescue cd image
Burn ISO to cd
Boot off cd
This should be able to load Linux and connect to Internet and give access to a browser
Unless there is a hardware fault (or killer Ethernet driver not included )

Regards
Mike Barnes

Cable is about 8ft long. Tried two different ones, one 4ft, another a gazillion ft (very long, coiled multiple times). No effect.

I will install Norton Antivirus later, once this problem is dealt with. Right now it's just an unnecessary variable.

Problem persists on all browsers and all software like Spotify and Nvidia Experience say that they are "offline".

Will try the Kaspersky rescue image.
