My computer runs Windows 10 Insider Edition (x64), for your information.

So basically: I installed Visual Studio 2013 Community and it asked me to reboot my computer, which I did. After rebooting the computer, it won't detect an Ethernet connection.

Here's what I tried to do:

  • ■ Reinstall all the drivers. I have a Realtek Ethernet Controller, by the way.
    ■ Reboot several times.
    ■ Trying 4 different cables. (They work on my PS3.)
    ■ Rebooting my router.
    ■ Disabling the MAC address filtering on my router (it was already disabled)
    ■ Checking if the Realtek Ethernet Diagnostic Utility detected the cable. Surprisingly, it did detect the cable (the port detected a normal connection, which means the cable is not damaged), but Windows cannot view it for some reason.
    ■ Cleaning the cables.
    ■ Cleaning the Ethernet port.
    ■ Doing a system restore. Yes, it didn't worked.
    ■ BIOS Factory Reset.
    ■ Doing ipconfig renew.

Sadly, nothing worked.
If that can help, the ethernet port on my motherboard has two lights (a green for receiving data and orange for sending data). Normally, even if I have my Internet connection disabled, the green light would flash. In this case, no lights are flashing at all.

I have a custom built computer.
My Ethernet port is working well since the Realtek Ethernet Diagnostic Utility can detect the cable, but apparently Windows can't.

I just reformatted my computer and it still doesn't work.
I doubt it's an hardware failure since the computer can still recognize the cable but won't connect to it.
