Hi there, I'm having occasional moments in BF4 where my FPS drops to somewhere from 60-80 FPS down to 5-10 FPS. Yes, 5-10 FPS. One moment it would be like that, then the next moment the frame rate would skyrocket. I've noticed when the FPS drops to the trough, the fans move slower. Can anyone please give me some help on this issue? Thanks!

Probably your PSU isn't good enough or you are getting thermal throttling. What is your temperatures?

Temps under load are usually somwhere close to 70 degrees Celsius. I know it's not my PSU because it has more than enough wattage, and the system's TDP is about 429w.

Temps seem great for an AMD card. I would still consider checking on that PSU as the one you have is a poor one. Even though it has that many watts it might have trouble outputting them. Also that 80+ efficiency tends to be under done on cheap PSU's. Your AMD says a 550watt PSU and you might be nearing the limit with that cheap one. Another option that is just as likely is you might be getting bottlenecked by the CPU. The i5 is fine, but a higher clock could work wonders because BF4 is a cpu hungry game.

Thanks for the tip, sadly the i5-4460 can only be turbo clocked as I have a h97 motherboard and a non-K CPU.

Well then for sure turbo clock it. See if that gives an y increase in fps.
