Good evening to all of you,
I have reinstalled my WinXP 32bit SP3 operating system and I have been having issues with the audio driver.

This is my system information:

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name LF-7D091631C286
System Manufacturer System manufacturer
System Model System Product Name
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~2599 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 1004, 4/11/2013
SMBIOS Version 2.7
Windows Directory D:\WINDOWS
System Directory D:\WINDOWS\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2111)"
User Name LF-7D091631C286\Lf

Total Physical Memory 2,048.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 1.14 GB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
Page File Space 3.53 GB
Page File D:\pagefile.sys

The motherboard is ASUS P86H-M-LX3 R2.0 so I have been on the official ASUS website (https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX3_R20/HelpDesk_Download/) and have downloaded and successfully installed all drivers except the audio one. I have tried both of the suggested ones from the site, and then went on to trying all available codecs from Realtek's site for my OS and none have worked.

It seems as if the PC just doesn't see the driver.

Also, I have been having issues with Skype, where it mentions a Kernel error upon install, which leads me to believe something more than just sound is wrong with the PC. Should something in the system besides audio be updated?

I have been sitting here trying to figure out what's wrong for 3 days now. I simply don't know what else to do anymore. If anyone has any idea on solving this issue, please share your thoughts, any help is appreciated.

Thank you,
Jane

Problem solved!
It seems I may need to start wearing reading glasses because I hadn't installed the newest suggested Realtek audio driver from ASUS' website.
I have installed it and the audio works properly!
Problem solved!
Thank you
