Mobo Asus z97-a 3.1/USB
HDD Seagate 3TB.

Going into the UEFI menus I cannot set the 3TB drive as UEFI: xxxxxxx. It has only shown up as P1: ST3000DM001-1ER166 2861588MB

I've used diskpart to clean the drive and convert to gpt but the UEFI Boot tab only shows it as P1:xxxxx and not UEFI: xxxxxx

UEFI has been updated to the current release for this mobo.

what is keeping this mobo from setting this drive as a UEFI drive? Am I missing a setting in the UEFI menu?

thanks

thanks for you response.

I'm building a new system with a 3tb hard drive.

I can only set my DVD drive to UEFI, I cannot set my 3tb drive to UEFI. This is in the boot tab of the UEFI settings.

So to answer your questions, goal: Install windows with 3tb of usable space

without a OS installed I can only set the drive as a Legacy drive in UEFI and windows 8 can only use 2tb when it installs. Then I used diskpart to clean the drive and start over with the same result.
