I already made a post about this 2 or 3 weeks ago ago but that is basicly abandoned so I'm going to make this short. I can't clone my seagate 1tb hard drive to my new Kingston 240gb v300 because of different bytes per sector in each drive, I can't backup my disk partition and then restore it onto my SSD so that is put off the picture. So I decided to install windows 8.1 64bit fresh from the offical retail disk onto the SSD with the SATA mode on AHCI ( I checked several times) and without my hard drive connected, but my two disk reader/writer drives are still plugged in but they shouldn't be a problem.

So I put in the windows disk and went into the installation screen, put in my product code, and agreed to a pointless contract when I was onto where I want to install windows too when I get a " windows cannot find the disk drivers. Please make sure they are turned on in the bios" or something like that. I ignored it and got a " windows could not create a new portion or locate an existing one". I have tired every disk part command I saw that was related to this problem but no luck. How do I fix these two errors and if I can't is the SSD faulty?

What I would do, is use Microsoft's USB/DVD tool to copy the CD to a 4GB pen drive and then put a copy of the AHCI SATA driver from the motherboard CD or download from manufacturer, then boot of USB and use the option to add the driver when it comes to selecting install drive.

Use a x64 system to create the bootable USB.

I have done that already. I had entered the motherboard driver DVD into the 2nd DVD drive and installed the drivers with the windows installer but no luck. It still says the two errors.

OK... I've had your problems a few times. It has to do with the partition itself. Once in a while if your partition is corrupted Windows simply will NOT install at all. You need to boot from the DVD.. then select Advanced... Once there, just DELETE the old partition and CREATE a new one and format it. That will reset the drive and get it ready for a new install of Windows.

Ok I'm going to do that tonight when I get home. Just in case it doesn't work, what do I do then?

In that case... just break out the old sledgehammer. That usually fixes everything... <wink>

Deleting the partition didn't work at all. I created a primary partition and then booted up the DVD and tried to install. Nothing. It still says "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the setup files" and the "windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu." I went to the bios and the SSD can be seen and the controller u set to AHCI. I also tried switching it to RAID and the other one but nothing.

Here are my system specs:

Motherboard: asrock 980de3/u3s3 r2.0
First storage: sea gate 1tb hard drive
Secondary: Kingston v300 SSD
Ram: 8gb 1600mhz (2x4GB) Kingston hyper x blue
Processor: fx 6300
Video card: r9 270

Is my SSD faulty or can you find a solution? I looked everywhere but can't find anything
