Mobo : GA-H55M-D2H
Memory : Corsair XMS3 - 2x2GB
CPU : i3 540
PSU : Corsair VS 450
GPU : GeForce GT 240 GDDR5

Recently I reinstalled the CPU Fan after cleaning it up, since then one of the RAM slots suddenly stopped working no matter which module I put into it.

I had to press the CPU fan hard to get it installed. Is it possible that the RAM slot/CPU pins got damaged? I closely inspected the DIMM slot for any dirt/bent pins but there are none.

My motherboard only supports upto 8GB/4 per DIMM slot and there are 2 DIMM slots. Now how can I increase the RAM to 4+ GB on this motherboard?

Yes. Try re-seating the cooler and checking the socket.

The stock fan was replaced by a DeepCool Gamma Archer recently afterwards, and it is seated well. In case a pin/pins are damaged, is there a way I can fix them manually myself?

:) i also noticed that spec of dirt, removed it but RAM still not detected. I seriously cannot find any bent pins, looked more closely.

I thought its better not to get into the hassle of getting the mobo repaired as the CPU might as well be the culprit!

So I bought a 4GB module along with an 120GB SSD to increase performance and its working gr8. :)

Only that for this rig I am stuck at 4Gigs max.
