Depends if your playing a game like Skyrim and modding the heck out of it and DL 4k texture pack, left right and center then you might run into problems.

But with out modding you 960 will be fine for 1080p. As Vympel said 2GB is more then enough to run one 1080.

I have a GTX 960 and so far I haven't run into any issues, but I don't mod my games texture-wise. I've noticed that the GPU tends to run out of steam before the 2GB of VRAM becomes an issue. I also have an old HD 7950 3GB and overclocked to the max it approaches the performance of the GTX 960 2GB. Even though it has 1GB extra VRAM it almost never uses it (and when it does its just a couple of hundred Mb). Again, the GPU tends to run out of power first.
