Will 2500K @ 4200 MHz and PCI Express 3.0 Bottleneck 980ti?

I've been wish-listing a build capable of 4K gaming which quickly went up and beyond my current budget. No surprise there.

So, I've been scaling back and thinking of doing just another partial upgrade of the GPU (780 -> 980ti) and going from a HD monitor to WQHD.

My chief wonder is if the 2500K will begin to bottleneck a 980ti? If so, then the upgrade isn't worth it in my opinion without also doing the CPU which then of course is a new MB and memory which then leads me to question even bothering with anything until I can afford the before mentioned 4K build.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

You should not see any noticeable bottlenecking. Maybe a few FPS because the newer cpus have a better memory controller.
The2500K@4.2ghz is faster than a lot of the newer stock processors. It is still a very capable CPU.
No. Impossible. Only way it would bottleneck would be if you had 3 GPUs in the system. I have researched it as I have the same CPU and am about to buy a 980ti for 1440p gaming. Don't bother with 4K unless you have the mobo that allow SLI/Crossfire and you are getting 2 GPUs.
