Can't replace disk with larger disk in Raid 1 using Intel Rapid Storage

I have 2 2T drives configured in a Raid 1 array using Intel Rapid Storage. These drives are old and starting to trigger SMART warnings so I want to replace them both.

I bought a 4T drive and swapped one of the 2T drives with the 4T drive. However, Intel Rapid Storage flags this drive as a "Spare" Non-Member disk. There is no option to "add drive" or "rebuild to this drive".

The Intel Rapid Storage Management tool shows an error, 1 drive missing, and a non member disk on the same port. There seems to be no way to rebuild to the 4T drive.

The drive itself is fine on its own...

Do I need to use a 2T drive instead?

Solution
Yes, it is a boot array. I don't know if it's UEFI enabled.
MB is Asus P6T Deluxe

I did initialize the array as GPT - the original drives are a MBR.
