I'm looking for for a decent mechanical gaming keyboard around 100 bucks that's back lit and has mx cherry browns or mx cherry reds. I have looked into the Thermaltake Poseidon but i heard from a friend that it breaks really quickly (he had one earlier last year but it broke after 6 months of regular use) so id like to stay away from that, thanks in advance!

I recommend the Logitech G710+ Cherry MX Brown or Blue, CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate or Quickfire TK, and the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate or the regular Blackwidow. Firstly, you have to decide what kind of switch you want. Loud, clicky and very tactile: Cherry MX Blue and Razer Green. Silent and tactile: Cherry MX Brown and Razer Orange. After you have decided what kind of switch you want, it basically comes down to personal preference. I will list some points of why you may want to choose each of the options I have mentioned.
Logitech G710+: Includes a comfortable wrist rest, has nice white backlighting, has 6 macro keys and has multimedia keys

Is the build quality good? I'm upgrading from my steelseries apex because the keys are starting to give me issues and so far ive had it since 2013 so I'm hoping this new one can last longer.

So far it is all good. It is quite solid but it does not have the aluminum key backplate like a lot of more expensive boards have. But for long term durability I honestly couldn't tell you as I only had it for around two months.

CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate: Has vibrant backlighting (color varies depending on which SKU you opt for), very well constructed and sturdy, and is more affordable (usually at $110~)
CM Storm Quickfire TK: Has a very space-efficient layout (main letters and numberpad with function key for other things), has vibrant backlighting, and is also more affordable (usually at $100~)
Razer Blackwidow: Solid construction, has 5 macro keys and it is also affordable (usually at $90~)
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate: Solid construction, has a BEAUTIFUL backlight which is very vibrant due to the green board behind the keys and has 5 macro keys
You should also take into consideration what is going on sale as occasionally, very good and premium keyboards will go for heavily discounted prices if a new model is coming in or they are having some sort of event sales.
