Question: Intel i7-5960X CPU

Is it true that the 5960X will only support DDR4 RAM speeds of up to 2133MHz? I've read this all over the internet, but it seems unlikely that it would stop here, consdering that DDR4 speeds continue up to over 3000MHz. So what gives??

No, that's just the max RAM speed that is GUARANTEED to work. Anything over 2133mhz isn't guaranteed to function 100% with that CPU. But in the case of the RAM not working you can always just call up amazon or whatever and tell them it won't work. 99% of the time they'll give you a refund for the return and you could get different RAM. iirc, 2133mhz is the slowest speed that DDR4 comes in right? This means the vast majority of DDR4 is over that, imo it seems that 2400 and 2666mhz is the two most popular DDR4 speeds.

And if the RAM won't work at say 2400 or 2666mhz you can always underclock it to 2133mhz in most cases; CPU's that say 2133mhz max will usually still allow quite a bit of overclocking. I've seen people take 2666mhz RAM and...
