Hey,

I really need help here.

So a couple months back I got myself a nice new gaming rig:

GTX 970
8GB Ram
I5-4690
1TB HDD
Mini-ITX Mobo

Here's the problem:

So when playing games I get loads of stutter and ridiculous FPS drops:

For example in Dying light my fps can go from eighty to forty in an instant.

I understand that FPS drops are natural depending on the scene in question.

But these are some hefty drops that even g-sync cant hide.

fps also drops around large amounts of NPC's in the same fashion.

The witcher 3 is another game which stutters like mad.

Also every game sometimes stutters when it autosaves which is another annoyance.

Coming from console this is really putting me off PC gaming - because to be honest the experience is worse than that of a Ps4 :(

If anyone can help me I will be grateful !

First thing is you have under the "recommended" amount of ram from a gaming build. You may want to try scanning your computer with an anti-virus program, (i recommend AVG) and also an anti-malware software (i recommend malwarebytes) Is there a reason you purchased a mini ITX motherboard?

Okay, so I have never been advised that 8GB would be insufficient and I have seen few games use that much.

I have ran many scans for viruses & Malware - nothing was found.

I bought mini-ITX for a small form factor pc - would this impact performance in any noticeable way?

I dont know a whole lot about mini ITX mobo's but i know they are not normally paired with gaming, simply because they are basically just motherboards that are stipped to the core basics. With your RAM, 16GB is the recommended average for a gaming rig. I can;t believe i missed this, but what CPU do you have? This could possibly be from bottlenecking.
