In the description you may have missed:

"Please note:
- The backplate does not serve as a standalone unit and is compatible with reference EK-FC970 GTX TF5 waterblock!"


You want to look for the EVGA backplates which work on their own or other thirdparty plates not designed for WC blocks.

I did see that, but I did not quite understand what they exactly meant with it. It sounds like it would work with other cooler types.

Guess there just is no proper backplates for GTX970. Especially the MSI one.

they took that out, you dont need a waterblock anymore(never mind, just realized thats for reference cards only)
