ASUS z-97 AR Motherboard
ASUS Strix GTX 980
i7 4790
2x8 GB Corsair Veangence Pro 2133

GPU is in the top slot.

I tried updating GPU-Z and the MB bios and it then it reported the bus as 3.0. now it's reporting as 2.0 again.

Anyone else have this issue? Any solution?

that's fairly normal if your outside of stressing the GPU. if you hit the question mark next to the buss speed in GPU-Z it will give an explanation of whats going on and a way to put a load on your GPU to check its maximum buss speed.

while idling, mine is presently reporting as x16 1.1. but if i load the GPU it jumps back up to x16 3.0.

now, if it is reporting the lower buss version when stressing the GPU, then you may have a problem.

this is my specs BTW, A58M for my motherboard, A8 5500 and r7 250 1GB ddr5. i know it will not run on 3.0 version because of my CPU but atleast i should get PCI-E 2.0 right?
