So I am in the market to upgrade my HD7970 however I am trying my hardest to be patient until next week when AMD gives out more information about the new card they are going to be releasing. I have been doing a lot of reading and trying to see if there is any legitimate benchmarks on how the R9 3xx series is going to stack up against the 980 TI but it seems like most information is just leaked and not reliable. Out of curiosity have you guys found any reliable comparisons or is there no way of knowing at this point? I actually just read that XFX accidentally spilled the beans on the 390x just being a re brand of the 290x but again this is just a "leaked" article and doesn't provide any concrete proof of whether there is any truth to it. Also do you thin i should just got for the Gtx980TI or wait it out?

Lol, your exactly like me. I'm an NVidia fan, and I chose the GTX 750 TI over a R9 270 because of features set. :)

I'd also say wait another week, it's not that far away now. :D

I think you should wait. at least i would do that.

My personal preference is Nvidia because of: driver program, gfe, shadowplay, efficiency, preoptimised games, gameworks effects, etc.

So even if the new flagship AMD card is let's say 10% ( i just threw this randomly here) faster, i'd still choose the 980ti for the listed reasons. However if the flagship AMD card is the same price, similar in efficiency and 25%faster, i'd think about choosing the AMD card.

I figured this would be the type of responses i would get and they make complete sense. Like i said i have the HD7970 right now and it is a solid card for what its worth and its age. As stated above the and from what i have seen it seems like AMD loves power consumption. It does not matter if it is one of there CPU's or GPU's it seems like when you compare the amount of power they require compared to their competition the competition will always come out on top in terms of energy efficiency.

If you are considering buying the 980ti, definitely wait until we get benchmarks on the new AMD Radeon Fury card(s). AMD will announce them June 16 at the E3 Gaming Convention. How much they are going to say then is unknown. Rumors say the cards will be available June 24th. So whatever date the cards become available is probably the date we will get benchmarks too.

At Computex last week, an AMD VP was saying that the new Fury card was the fastest GPU on the planet. I doubt they would say that if it were not true.

Note earlier that I said "card(s)". Rumors late last week claim that there will be 3 versions of Fury cards. If this is true, and if AMD actually does what I think they might be doing, it is definitely going to shake up the video card market.

And just in case you have not seen this picture yet, here is the new AMD Fuji GPU with its four stacks of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) around it giving it 4GB of memory on an incredible 4096 bit bus. The card length is rumored to be just 190mm long.

Also note below which Video Card is in my computer... :p

I wouldn't say that, don't forget Fermi, which was a power hog compared to the AMD options of the time. Right now AMD is on the other side of that, but hopefully the 3XX series will make some headway.

As for "leaked" info, I wouldn't believe it. The 390X is supposed to have HBM, among other things. It is true that the OEM cards are rebrands, but I think that was due to the OEM's being impatient. There is no real information out yet, except that it is June 16th for the launch.

I usually lean toward AMD cards personally as they tend to have the best price/performance ratio. As for drivers, both sides have issues from time to time (anyone remember the nVidia driver that was cooking their GPU's), AMD had a lot of issues in the past but now they are equal. As to features, they only matter is it's something you might actually use. That being said, I have owned both types and both have been perfect for what I need. If I had been in the market for a upgrade a month ago, I would have gotten a GTX970 as it had the best price/performance at the time.

100% confident 300 series will not have HBM. Only the Fury cards will have HBM, and the Fury cards are being named just like Nvidia did with Titan. A name, no number.

HBM (with DDR technology) will appear on both Nvidia and AMD cards next year. Both companies have announced this.

300 cards will be tweaked versions of the 200 series GPUs. One rumor says the R9 390X will be a R9 290X with faster clocks, double the memory, and a slghtly higher price. The other thing I noticed was that only the upper end AMD cards appear to be getting announced June 16. Not a single word about mid tier and lower.

AMD, quit copycatting NVidia!! lol.
