Pair that R9 280X with this value oriented gaming beast config, which has great price to performance ratio:

- For gaming the performance difference between i5 and i7 is highly negligible or zero. So is the case with regard to using 8GB vs 16GB RAM.
- The R9 280X more of a 1080p gaming card. It still can perform decent enough on 1440p, but may not be able to provide 60+ frames on GTA V.
- What you need is not a high end processor / motherboard for 1440p gaming but a card like GTX 970/980. They can certainly give you 60+ FPS @1440p.

Update:

The R9 280X indeed can run GTA V all maxed out at average 45-50FPS. See this video - Grand Theft Auto 5 PC: GTX 960 vs R9 280/R9 285/R9 280X 1440p Benchmarks

So playing around a bit with GTA V graphics settings, you should be able to get solid 60FPS @1440p high graphical fidelity with R9 280X.

Note that in the config I've included a SSD for significant performance improvement with reduced time for boot/loading of OS and game levels.

Also Black Edition Gigabyte Board is best known for its reliability and performance. As per the recent RMA report, Gigabyte has the failure rates and less RMAs. ASUS has gone from bad to worst in terms of increased RMA recently. Lost its second spot to MSI. See the image below to have an idea:

What Gigabyte says about its Black Edition Motherboards:

- GIGABYTE Black Edition motherboards undergo an extra 168 hours (7 days) of stress testing before shipment to ensure premium quality for our customers.
- During the 168 hour test, each motherboard needs to pass rigorous, full system validation testing for 1 full week. GIGABYTE has built a custom testing facility at our Taiwan (Nanping) factory.
- A Certificate of Validation is included with every board, issued by the GIGABYTE factory and signed by the manufacturing VP & GM to indicate that each board has passed our highest test standards.

Cheers!
