Hey everybody!

I recently got a used motherboard from a friend (M5A99FX PRO R2.0) and new AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz from newegg.

I switched out my old motherboard and placed the new processor in. When I turn my computer on, fans are running, and my motherboard is on. However I don't hear any beeps from the motherboard and my screen is black. The DRAM_LED light is red and the SB_PWR light is green. I'm unsure on why because my RAM was working fine before I made the switch. Any suggestions?

Solution
Thank you guys for your help. The answer was simple. I just didn't have the RAM stick fully in its socket. I try to be very gentle with the equipment and it got the better of me. THANKS!

That's fine, I have everything backed up. I doubt just putting in the reinstall CD for windows will make it work again considering I can't even access BIOS. But I can try that and see

If you are met with, no output from a graphics card to the monitor you have.
And do not get any sort of bios beep error code the cause can be two things.

1. A lack of power to the motherboard if you have a Pci-e based graphics card fitted in the slot of the board.
Have a double check near or around the cpu socket of the motherboard, you should see a four or eight pin connector block for 12v. Look at your PSU if it is relatively new and it should have a four or eight pin 12v power feed on it.
With out the four or eight pin fitted from the Psu to the motherboard it will not post or produce a bios beep error code or show any image on your monitor via the Pci-e based graphics card.

If you have connected the supply, block from the cpu to the board.
Then your next step is to reset the bios of the motherboard.
Because your friend may of had a different set of memory modules running at a higher speed than you have.
You need to reset the bios back to defaults so it can detect the memory you put in the system and it`s correct speed to run at by bios auto detection.
Like said because you have changed over to a new board your version of windows will not run with the new board. It will likely crash mid way through loading because it is likely the new board you got contains a different chip set on it to your old motherboard.
So it will require you to do a fresh install of windows OS after you get the board up and running.
Also check the revision of the bios that is installed on the board.
The board may require a bios update of the firmware to work with the FX 6300 cpu. if your friend has never update the bios of the board since he bought it.
