So installing the h97 plus I come across 3 USB headers for the front panel
One called usb910
One called usb1112
And the other called usb1314

I'm using the fractal design define r4 case

Solution
Use any of them they are all 2.0

Doesn't matter.

Use the 3.0 port on the board for your USB 3.0 fronts.

Actually it has 4. USB 3.0 Header is next to the ATX connector and SATA 1 and 2. That will go to your 3.0 ports.

You can then use one of the 3 others for the two remaining 2.0 ports. (If there is a separate connector anyway)

Generally one will be coming from the chipset PCH, the other two were added by the board manufacturer.

Quite a few things can be plugged into those. More USB ports of course, Digital fan controllers, All-in-one cooling systems use them, RGB LED arrays, and all kinds of goodies.

Usb 1.1 ports are white in color.
Usb 2.0 ports can be Black or Red.
And Usb 3.0 ports with Uasp support are blue in color.

Usb 3.0 ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices.
And Usb 2.0 ports are backwards compatible for usb 1.1.

The extra on board Usb pinouts on the motherboard are also if you wish to connect a rear bracket usb solution also.

Those color schemes are not universal. Many manufacturers will switch them out for aesthetics or simply use the ports available at time of manufacture.

Generally case manufacturer's stick to it though.

Laptops will often have a yellow port which indicates "Always on" some motherboards use yellow or sometimes red.

But that wasn't really the intent of the original question.

Buddy, the Mobo vendor has no idea what case the customer will be using, whether such case has none, 1, 2, or how many front panel plugs are there. They make available 3 header=6 USB plug and it doesn't mean you have to use them all.

It really doesn't matte which one u use. By convention, use the lower labeled first, 1-2 first, then 3-4, but is not mandatory.
