Hey everyone, my question is does the speed of the h100i fans actually change the temp of my CPU ?
I noticed that my temps whether my fan are silent high or turbo are the same!

im just confused :)

Idle temps = 35-37C
"Gaming" Load temps = 50-60C
Room temp = 24-26C

specs:
CPU: I7-4790k @ 4.6
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX970 SC
MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Hero
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
SSD: x2 128GB Samsun 850PRO
HDD: 1TB WD caviar black
PSU: Corsair HX1000W
Case: Graphite Series 760T full-tower

It changes. I have H110i but pretty much the same. Only fans I can control on my rig is the cpu fans and yes cpu fans spin faster when the cpu heats up. Also, You need to go to your bios and update your cpu fan control settings. Should be under monitor or ez q fan control settings and change it there (option to turn fans faster at lower temp or highter).. hope that helps.

Can you provide a good CPU stress test to check please

what i mean is even when idle and i change my fan speeds after 15 mins i dont notice any kind of temp drop.

So basically what i noticed is it does not matter how fast my h100i fans are sniping, even when idle the temps are the same

sorry didnt read it correctly.. well unless you are doing heavy stuff your temps are normal and will not go up... if that makes sense. If your i100i is working correctly you shouldnt have temp drop.. what you are seeing is cooled with water cooler already if you stress with high intensive programs then it will get hotter not cooler... cpu cooler's job is to make sure it doesnt over heat..

So regardless of what fan speed i have right now, my idle temp will always be 35-37C?

what i was trying to figure out is with the H100i does more fan speed = lower temps ?

this is my first time using water cooling so im kind of consfused xD

Idle wont change much as it will be close to the ambient temperature around the case. The only way to massively affect your idle temps is to use something that can cool below the ambient temperature.

It will affect your load temperatures more than idle. But not by a massive amount. It will probably be about 1-3 degrees Celsius depending on a lot of factors.

yeah, so i will most probably notice the difference in fan speed/temps when the cpu is actually under load and hot?

Yes, So your going to have to do a stress test with low fan settings, mid, Max fan... you'll see few degree difference.. not much though.

ok so i just downloaded prime95 to start testing.

What temps should i consider to be "OK" under load in general for an i7-4790k @ 4.6 ? so i can at least compare

He is trying to figure out if there is a benefit of using the fans at max vs mid or low.

OP, don't use Prime95 unless you can get an older version. The newest one runs with AVX and causes your CPU to get much hotter than it should.

Instead, run OCCT and test it. As I said, you will probably notice a 1-3c difference with max fans under load but when idle you wont notice much of a difference. I just leave my H100i at auto and let it decide when to spin the fans up and I never have to worry. Plus it keeps it cool when it needs it instead of running the fans harder than they need to be and thus lowering their life span.

Im a gamer and I just want to understand my computer more and more :)

I live in Kuwait which is a VERY hot country and im starting to worry about my temps when playing which leads to a VERY hot computer room.

you are using corsair link right for fan settings?

You should not have to worry too much about it. Your fans will blow the hot air out of the case... Corsair link sucks i am telling you don't use it =)

Yes I use Corsair Link for my H100i and AX860i. works great. You can monitor everything and create custom fan profiles so if you want the benefit of a bit cooler temps for the CPU you can set it to run them at max during certain load/temperature times.

I live in Arizone, one of the hottest states in the US, and I know how you feel. Unless you have a newer home that is built with better temperature controls and a newer AC unit it will always get hot in a PC room. My wife and I both run our PCs and that room is probably a good 5-10c warmer sometimes than the rest of the home.

It depends. Corsair actually recommends you have the H100i/GT setup in a push configuration pulling air from outside the top of the case and into the radiator.

As for Corsair Link, I haven't seen anything better than it and I have no issues with it.

I do not agree.. why would you have an intake on top? Thats not recommended air flow.. unless you are trying to say have fans on top as exhaust pulling air out of the case..

Then you would need to talk to Corsair who did the testing and put that in the installation manual. It actually makes sense unless you have room to be able to put the fans on the bottom of the radiator to push air through because using the included SP rated fans to pull is wrong, they are meant to push air through a radiator not pull it.

Am i doing it right?
