how much air does the PC need exactly?

I need a good area to put my PC. I can put it under my desk, but there's carpet and it's thick too so it might block the air the PSU fan needs (PSU fan is facing down in the case, which is at the bottom). There is a dust filter underneath my PSU fan, so dust won't be a huge problem. I could put a mat under my PC, or maybe some cardboard or something (sounds ghetto lol but one of the few options i have) I can also put it in my desk cabinet and there are 2 medium sized holes in there for wires to go through, but the problem with that could possibly be lack of air in there. There's absolutely 0 dust in there so that's an advantage of putting the PC in there. If lack of air is the problem, I can keep the cabinet door open at all times (I will kind of need to because of headphones go on the front side of the case).

Solution
It has a filtered PSU and intake. It should be fine on dust.
I live in the mountains with 50 acres of DG (Essentially sandy dirt) which gets everywhere. Only need to clean the case every 6 or so months.

What about for this PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3T9srH

Like I said, I can put cardboard under my PC. But there's still a load of dust under my desk and it will get in my PC from the back of the case. Could the cabinet work? I don't want to put it under my desk but if it is the only solution, I will use it. Air won't be a problem under my desk but the dust will.
