Last day i installed windows 8.1 on my system but i have some bugs. After looking for to the asus support they served a new bios who told to fix some bugs that i got. I took that risk with updated my bios version with the asus support served.

I used winflash tools to did it. After the tools told it was completing erasing the old bios then re-write new one (with the new bios downloaded), then the tools enter verification. And the probelm came, it stacked just entered the 3%.

I try to cancel the process because it seems like no progress at all over 1 hour, and repeat the process again. But the result still same.

Then i restarted my system to try update bios from bios mode. But here the problem i should face, my laptop wont booting and just show blank screen. I assuming this happen because the old bios was erased by winflash tools but failed to re-write new ones.

I read some tips how to deal with this issue, and here the some tips i tried with no result.

- Press power button for 30 sec or more
- Connecting to the external display incase the issue come from my lcd
- Replaced the cmos battery and place it back after 15 minutes.

Another tips i not tried yet is to set the cmos jumper, because after looking for carefully i cannot find the jumper or the pins. Any help will be much appreciated. I will glad to provide more data you asked.

Sorry for my english and the long-post because i just want to make sure you guys know the root cause.
the laptop is Asus K45DR

Hi cin19,
Im glad for your response and the link. Im newbie on this forum, then i wanna say sorry to everyone that my first post was an issue.

Actually the model was not quiet similar but no problem buddy, i able to diassembled it since my laptop need to get new thermal paste :)

Now i had removed the cmos battery as you advised. And i will try my luck to wait it for some hour.
Any other tips will be appreciated.
Again, thanks :)

Buddy, forget about doing anything else while you are in there, resolve the BIOS prob first, THEN u can tackle the next problem. Without BIOS, you got what we call a BRICK. If u fiddle with CPU or anything now you will be introducing another variable to your problem.

I removed the cmos battery and wait untill one hours more, while waiting i pressing 3 or 5 times adn hold the power button to make sure there is no power anymore in there.

After that, i reassembling it and try to turn on, but the issue still persist, my laptop wont boot.

Hi cin19 and everyone who come to this thread,

Im so happy that this single sentence wrote from my Asus K45DR, the one with BIOS issue

I want to tell to everyone who came to this thread how this issue fixed.
Okay, sinced i can't find the cmos jumper, replacing cmos battery and using paper clips trick didn't work too i came with replacing BIOS chips (it's soldered to motherboard). After replaced i put it to a tools called EEPROM. This hardware cost about $ 50 in my country, Indonesia. And some service centre had this one and it cost about $ 20 to use this tools.
This tools will rewrite the BIOS to your BIOS chips (with your last BIOS, in my case my BIOS version was 223).
After that, resolder it to motherboard and wait about 15 minutes to make sure the heat from solder was gone from your motherboard. Then reasembled your laptop and turn on the machine. Since it work for me, i hope the same for everyone with same problem.

If you can't do the trick above, i recommend to handled by pro or technision.

Best Regards
Thanks
