a 470 is about as fast as a 750 ti BUT you need MINIMUM a...

Yeah, you don't have a card.

Please post what PSU you have, so we can advise what is required to upgrade to a GPU.

Also, you won't be removing anything other than the PSU probably to put a more powerful unit in that can handle a GPU.

Wow that was quick, Thanks you guys. SO im thinking I also have to change my Power Supply? On the actual unit inside my case it says- Input-120-127v /6a 50/60hz, Output-+5v /25a MAX +12v /14a MAX, Combined DC OUPUT should not exceed 250v MAX.. Is that the info you needed?

Yeah, good enough.

You need a PSU. Get a model with 80+ rating and bronze certification. A 430w model -500w model will more than cover you.
Ensure it is by a respectablöe brand like Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair, XFX, Silverstone or Antec.

This is the golden guide: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

I am assuming you will buy a basic GPU a la GTX 750 Ti or Radeon 260x/270x. Otherwise you are looking at an overhaul of your PC.

Other good models to look for on ebay for cheap, are 760, 660Ti.

Good point.

Potentially you need to upgrade a little more than just those two elements to game.

Are you serious about gaming? If yes, define a budget ($500 - the sky is the limit) and get help from us to put parts together)

If not, try and put in a PSU and GPU and see what happens.

Ive seen alot of videos and documents on changing graphics cards and I was looking at a Power Supply from Corsair and a Nvidia GeForce Graphics card but wasnt sure on what is compatible/ Will even fit and what isnt.

The main reason for doing this is because I honestly just wanna be able to play WoW and actually see the graphics at a better setting then every setting on Low with a Fps of 2-5. I cant even see spells being shot lol and everytime I put the graphics settings to anything higher then Low I cant even move because of the lag.

For WoW you could get away with pretty basic specs.

It is worth perhaps getting a cheap ATX case and refitting all your parts with a new PSU and GPU in there.

If you do that though, $500 gets you a PC which will play wow on a level where...sorry about this...you will say WoW! ( I know it was bad).

So you have to decide how much to spend and what you want/need.

I used to be a hardcore gamer until Life hit me. I work 2 jobs and about 50 hours a week so its hard for me to get some gaming in any more. But because I loved gaming and still do I wanted to spend about 200-400$ on upgrading my pc so when I actually have the time to hop on a couple times a week I can actually enjoy playing and not hate myself for having such a crap pc. lol

If i where to spend 500$ I'd honestly want to do it in incr4ements IF possible. OR if your talking on spending 500$ on just the Graphics card and Power supply then,.....Well damn it would take me a month before I get those 2 parts.

EDIT- Am I just not looking good enough? IS there any place on the PSU that says the dimensions?

So im thinking about 100-200$ on the graphics card since thats how much the Geforce 470 is, if that will fit. It looks like I have alot of room. Errm, you said 50$ for the PSU, we'll give it more room and say 50-100. Is that a good grpahics card for that price or are there better in your opinion?

I am saying you can get an entire new PC for that money with good enough specs to play Wow on good settings.

Get a tape measure and tell us W /H /L.

LOL damn that was a kick down low.. Oh I see what you said, A New Case, PSU and GPU will amount to about 500. Alright ill get those dimensions asap.

You think upgrading JUST the GPu and PSU will fit my needs? As in just being able to enjoy the graphics on just WoW when im/if im able to hop on a couple times a week? That way I wouldnt be hitting near 500$, Possibly only about 300 lol or maybe theres other graphics cards that are cheaper but still worth the money ?

a new decent psu and a half decent second hand gpu from ebay should be a fair bit less than 300 dollars i would have thought

its not like you need a high end card for what you want to do

not sure which card though as not up on that cpu to know which card would be a good match

Sorry, to clarify

A new PC with all components like cpu, mobo, gpu, psu, a drive and case would be $500. It would be sort of entry level but would vertainly do the job of playing wow properly.

A GPU and PSU for your current setup to be able to enjoy the game would run you under 200 for sure.

So I Was thinking about the CorsAir Cx600 for PSU.

For the graphics card I was looking at requirements from Blizzard to play WoW and the minimum suggested GPU is a GeForce 8800 GT, and the recommended is the Geforce GTX 470, ATI Radeon HD 5870, or better. I was honestly thinking about the GTX 470 but I was looking at pricing on Ebay and those 2 Geforce GPUs range from 50-100 brand new.

Would you guys recommend using that PSU and one of those GPUs as my set up just for my needs? Or is there another GPU that I can use with the CX600 that would still be under or around the 150 range that is alot better then those 2 Geforce GPUs? That way I could still be in my range of under 200 or at 200$

Or is that PSU not even needed because the GPU you recommend isnt even close to that much Wattage/Voltage? So maybe a CX430 or CX500 and spend a little more on the Graphics Card?

EDIT- Also looking at the GTX750. ITs around my price range. How does it match up to the other 2 Geforce GPUs I mentioned before? How am I supposed to know which variation of the GTX750 I need? For Example theres the EVGA 02G-P4-3751,3755, and 3757 models. But i cant tell the difference

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help.

Something along these lines...GTX 750 TI at $129 with rebate...$149 initially. Will run wow at much much better than where you are now. Integrated graphics are the absolute worst at running any type of games. If that is truly all you want, something along these lines would work. If you start going higher graphics card wise, your processor might cause a slight bottleneck and it might even do that now.

I think wow uses the CPU a lot too but if that is all you are truly trying to do, $129 is not bad and if it stutters or is very low fps then you know your cpu will need to be replaced because that card can run wow and not stutter or anything like that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVRaX8viThA

That's a video of 750TI on world of warcraft with an i5, much better processor....there's a bunch of them around and it runs it fine...that's all ultra settings and still like 80 or so frames per second. If you can't get those higher framerates, it will be your processor that is holding it back.

This 750 TI will also allow you to play other newer games at lower settings in the future if you decide too, as long as your processor is able to keep up. That will be the main issue as you go forward.

I also changed my mind i think a corsair 430 would be enough but i still have to decide on the grpahics card. I want one that is just a little better then the minimum requirements for WoW and so I can get Windows 10 for free. I just have to make sure th corsair 430 fits. IS there a slim version?

Ive made up my miind to only change the power supply and add a graphics card, and possibly ram later on.

So if that PSU that was posted up earlier would fit then any other PSU should fit correct? So I shouldnt have any problems with a Corsair 430. Do I need to get the one that comes with the power supply cords?

The Geforce Gtx 470 should fit with no problems at all right?
