hello all which do you think is better for DD, DTS AND THX for surround sound Logitech z906. i want to use DD for Battlefield 3 but the receiver does not pick it up at all. only in movies i can get DD, DTS and thx. i tried different settings battlefield 3 audio but nothing works. yes i have the stereo enhancement off. im using spdif (toslink)

so tell me why the one you select better? dont say just because its blah or because its a external. i want to know why what is your opnion have you use them both before how did you use them, what cables you used.

First and formost, if you have teh ability to, always use analog over SPDIF. Dolby/DTS/THX are horrible audio formats, with very low audio quality and lossy compression.

That being said, if you want 5.1 out of games using SPDIF, you HAVE to enable Dolby Digital Live/DTS-Connect to convert standard 5.1 audio streams to Dolby/DTS audio spec. This is a seperate download [because for whatever reason, Creative thinks that you should purchase features already built into the card...]

24bit sound you will start to hear a difference.
16bit sound unless your DAC got a rating below 96 you wont hear much difference.
With that said we usually get the cards for their headphone amps. If you got a set of cans get a cheap Asus with the headphone amp in
