I have a Sabertooth x79 mobo with i7-3820 processor right now but I feel like it has become too slow for some of the tasks I have to do. I'm looking to replace the processor with the i7-5960x but my questions is will it fit on the socket of my current motherboard or will I have to get the new x99 boards? And also will the same goes for RAMs, as in do I have to replace them with DDR4 sticks?

Thanks,

Which is why it wont be worth it until DDR4 comes with SKylake so it will start being mass produced and start getting cheaper per GB.

Thought so... RIP wallet I guess. Or maybe I'll try OC'ing for now even though I hate tempering with these things, just to last until prices calm down a bit.

You could make your x79 system last a bit longer by buying a Haswell 4930K. That would be a pretty big jump from that quad core.
