i have intel i3 540 @ 3.07 Mhz . i have a DDR3 motherboard ( dh55pj ). i have 2 RAM slots for my mother board which is 1333 hz. long story short.....i have properly working 4gb ram. when i inserted another 4gb ram in slot 2 i couldnt see anything on my moniter. when i removed it and inserted it in slot 1 with old ram it worked. i got to know that my RAM slot was corrupt or damaged.....is there anyway i can fix it on my own? or should i get it fixed at a local shop and whats the cost?

Is the new RAM the same brand, voltage, speed and timings as the stick you had? A bad or improperly configured stick of RAM is more likely than a bad DIMM. All name brand RAM has a lifetime warranty.

Try your old, know working RAM in both slots. If it works then the DIMMs are fine.
If the motherboard is still under warranty get an RMA. It is tough to say if a local shop could fix something like that or not and no one would know the price. Also, most motherboards aren't that expensive so it might be cheaper to buy a new one if you can't get an RMA.

Both sticks of RAM work in the same slot then?

I doubt they would be able to fix it for less than you could replace the board for.

Hey man, we are no magicians over here. We don't see what you see, we are not there. We can only take educated guesses based on limited info you provided. The slot may had been bad from day 1 but never noticed until now.

Can you fix it manually? If you are asking then answer is No.

Can somebody else fix it for you? In the West, not worth the time, in India, the corner shop maybe willing to look at it.
