Hello all,

I have an Epson Workforce 610 Printer and it has been skipping lines when I print text. About every 4 lines of printed text, the printer seems to skip 4 more lines of text, the first and last of these "skipped" lines of text seem to be almost half printed and slightly smeared, as if the printer tried but failed to print them. It does it for a full page of text, the whole way down the page, all using black ink. I am also using a Windows 7 desktop computer to connect to it wirelessly, and I am sure that all software is up to date. I also tried restarting my computer and unplugging and re-plugging the power to the printer to power cycle that.

I have printed a full paged picture of space, that had mostly black. The whole thing worked and was fine, even though it was mostly black (had some colors too, but again, no problems with anything when I printed that).

I have replaced all the old ink cartridges with new ones. The problem still persists. I also cleaned the cartridges' contacts and the part of the printer that pierces the cartridges. Problem still persists.

I tried a Windows Test Page instead of my full page of text I was trying to print. The Windows logo printed fine, but the text on the page suffered still. I have also tried to print from both Notepad and Microsoft Word, both suffer the same text skipping problem.

I tired printing a page of text in blue instead of black. The whole thing printed just fine in blue for some reason. It also seemed like it took about double the time to print the text in blue than when it was "attempting" to print the same page in black.

I also ran the printer's head cleaning program. Problem still persists.

Thank you all for any help/ideas/thoughts you have about this problem! I am ready and willing to perform any more tests if any more information is needed.

this might sound stupid but it does actually work if clogged nozzles due to dried out ink are the issue

get some kitchen paper towel and some glass cleaner--wizz glass cleaner is best but others work

remove ink cartridges--spray some glass cleaner on paper towel and put it over the part the pierces the cartridge

press the paper towel down so it makes good contact

leave it for 10 minutes--remove paper towel and it should have a load of ink on it

repeat till the towel gets no ink then put cartridges back in and try printing

i am not winding you up or anything i have fixed a few printers doing this

a friend who works for fujifilm making very expensive inks for businesses explained theres a chemical in glass cleaner--wizz especially that dissolves printer ink

over time especially if you dont print a lot ink drys in the little holes on those bits that pierce the cartridges

this clears it
