How Long Can I Expect My GTX 780 To Last?

Hello all!

So with the latest Nvida craze going on with their recent launch of the 980Ti and their 3rd tier 970s, it has me thinking about where my GPUs stand today.

I have the Gigabyte Windforce GTX 780.
The card still performs within my range of 1080p >= 60 fps with medium-high settings.

There's lots of talk about new technologies coming out for the new GPU lineups, so it got me thinking about my setup.

Should I be thinking about upgrading the GPU by the end of 2015, or am I still set up for success?

Thanks for the advice as always!

P.S.
I am not against AMD GPUs. Just comparing what i currently have :D
And my full system specs are in my signature.

Your GTX 780 should be okay for 1 or 2 years at long as you don't mind playing on medium or high settings... However nobody really knows lol

Seems like you like to play the new heavy AAA Titles, I suggest getting the 980 ti if it's within your budget right now.

What games do you play?

Are you happy with the performance?

Over the years, by choosing SLI / CF capable MoBos and PSUs. most of the builds I have done for folks remain in use for as little as 4 and as much as 6 years. There may be a game or two that just doesn't cut it except at reduced settings but what I am seeing is kids going from the pre-high school build to the pre-college build to the "I just got my 1st job and before I move outta Dad's house I gonna get me a new kick ass PC" build

I play Battlefield 4, Assasin's Creed Unity, Farcry 4 and will be purchasing GTA 5 soon enough.
Among other games, such as Smite, Neverwinter, etc...

Battlefield 4 is the best performing using Nvidia's Dynamic Super Resolution to ease tension on the GPU instead of utilizing max AA settings.

The others (besides GTA 5) do well with a mixture of medium-high settings because I much dislike gaming at <60 fps.

What i am more worried about is, how long can i expect to keep my performance up with med-high settings in the coming releases.

I know it's a pretty open-ended question, but i know there are people who have fought with this issue to more extent than i have.

As much as i would love to break the bank and get the new 980 Ti and demolish every game at 1080p, I will have to wait for the price to come down a bit for that.
I considered the 970, but with the benchmarks out for that card, i was somewhat surprised by it's performance being remarkably close to what the 780 was hitting.

The 780 OCs very well too tho....I averaged 22 - 26%.... only done one 970 so far (23%); for the others, anxious users took away before I had the chnance to play :)
